Innovating with impact across policy

As a leader of Banner’s lobbying and public affairs practice, Brett focuses on policy issues with the U.S. House, U.S. Senate, White House and Administration.  He has a strong record of helping clients achieve their big moments, including winning government contracts and RFPs, securing support and champions for key policy changes, positioning brands to grow their market presence and building their reputations in a business-to-government (B2G) and business-to-business (B2B) environment.

Prior to founding Banner, Brett served as a legislative director in the U.S. Senate. In this capacity, he oversaw the passage of over 30 bipartisan pieces of legislation into law, including the Combat Meth Act, Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS), Highway Infrastructure Bonds, and Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Act.  He has a deep understanding of technology, defense, immigration, energy and health care issues gained from his client experience that includes HP (now Perspecta), Express Scripts, TATA Consultancy Services, NTT Data, AASHTO, Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation, EDS and TheBridge.

A strategy and policy dork at heart, Brett was a National Merit Scholar and graduated from the College of William and Mary in three years. He holds a law degree from Washington University School of Law.  Brett appeared on Season 1 of ABC’s Shark Tank and received an investment from Barbara Corcoran in the company he co-founded, Pork Barrel BBQ. He currently supports clients from Banner’s Washington, D.C. office.
