Jennifer (Jen) Tumminio brings more than fifteen years of communications experience to her role as a senior vice president at Banner Public Affairs.
Over the years, Jen has helped build and support integrated communication programs from the ground-up for numerous clients and associations ranging from technology, aerospace, energy, and environment. Prior to joining Banner Public Affairs, Jen was a Senior Vice President at the global public relations firm, FleishmanHillard, where she counseled clients on a multitude of communication issues including crisis, policy and government contracting.
Jen formerly worked in the Pentagon as a civilian public affairs specialist for the U.S. Air Force. She was responsible for managing communications programs that involved the shaping of defense communication policy across many programs, to include major weapons systems acquisitions, energy, environment, and the budget. She was responsible for writing the Air Force media relations policy governing the transparency of operations. Jen was also an Air Force communication analyst and provided strategic counsel and planning on the efforts and effectiveness of communication programs, and issues analysis.
Additionally, Jen was a uniformed public affairs officer in the Air Force, where she gained a wide range of experience as a spokesperson, media trainer, events planner, and counselor to senior government officials. She also has experience in crisis communication and has handled situations including the September 11th attacks, a hostage situation, a disease outbreak scare, and public hearings.
Jen holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and political science from the University of Colorado. She is also a graduate of the Defense Information School, Information Warfare Applications Course, and Military Airspace Management Course.
